A prophetic scribe is a believer who operates in any of the presents of the scribe recognized in the scriptures by the leading of Holy Spirit. For example, scribes were officers within the dispensation of Moses (making up 1/three of the council), serving righteous kings (reign of David/Solomon), establishing educational templates for the people (Ezra’s work) and different functions that involved administration, instruction or artistic strategy that ranged from managing treasuries of kinds, mapping family tree or producing accurate histories of their time.
They were not “all prophets” — although some prophets operated as scribes. They were not all writers although some scribes were. It’s like saying, I’m a prophetic musician — however you may play any number of devices string to keys.
The time period, prophetic scribe, zimnicea03 must be seen as umbrella term that encompasses many “scribal gifts” that, if you’re a believer within the gifts of the Spirit, are led by the Spirit. It is without doubt one of the most misunderstood offices in the scriptures.
There’s also the understanding of scribal prophets (a type of prophetic scribe). Scribal prophets are fully functioning prophets (not a distinct reward) whose callings are simply pushed more toward “scribal activities.” This is my view. It has been my focus of examine for 20 years… and in my work in my MDIV program… and soon doctorate. I hope this adds to the conversation.
My suggestion regarding personal research is to simply look on the “operate” of scribes from the moment they were pulled into the first group of the “congregation” with Moses… and then trace their journey from there. They have been part of the group that acquired an outpouring of the Spirit in Number 11… and prophesied.
